Phase 1 of the Peninsula Private Hospital expansion is complete
(August 2024)
We're thrilled to announce that phase 1 of the Peninsula Private Hospital expansion is complete.
This includes:
- a new car park,
- landscaping to the front area of the hospital with seating areas, and
- a rear retaining wall, ahead of the continued works.
The excitement continues for staff and the community as the expansion progresses to plan and to time.
The most anticipated milestone? The construction of the new theatre framework is now underway! This modern, single-story theatre will feature a rooftop plant room to support the hospital's operations.
What's more? The redevelopment will also include four new operating theatres, two procedure rooms, a four-bed HDU unit, and a refurbished Medical ward. These enhancements are part of our commitment to providing the highest quality care to our patients and meeting the growing healthcare needs of the North Brisbane region.
We're excited to see this project come to life and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our community.
Our hospital, our community
(May 2024)
We were so pleased to have been able to celebrate the expansion project, now underway at Peninsula Private Hospital with staff, doctors, partnering builders, architects and our community. Thank-you to all who attended.
When all areas are complete in 2025, our hospital will provide care to more people in our community, when they need it most.
Healthcare boost for Redcliffe with Peninsula Private Hospital expansion
Media Release (31 May 2024)
Brisbane's Redcliffe Peninsula is set for a significant upgrade in healthcare facilities with the official commencement of the Peninsula Private Hospital redevelopment project.
The groundbreaking ceremony, attended by local representative Yvette D'Ath (State Member for Redcliffe, Attorney General and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence), marked the start of a new era for the hospital, which has served the community for over 30 years
This exciting expansion project will bring much needed improvements to the hospital. Patients will benefit from 4 new state-of-the-art operating theatres, expanding the range of surgical procedures available at the hospital. These will be complemented by 2 new day procedure rooms as well as a dedicated high dependency unit that will provide enhanced care for those who need it. Wards will be upgraded with single ensuite rooms to create a more private and comfortable environment for patients.
“The new facilities will allow us to offer a wider range of surgical procedures and improve patient monitoring and care,” said Michele Gardner, General Manager, Peninsula Private Hospital. “We’re thrilled to see this long-awaited project finally underway.”
“While the private hospital sector faces considerable challenges at present, providing the best care and facilities for our patients remains our top priority,” said Healthscope’s CEO Greg Horan. “This redevelopment will allow Peninsula Private’s dedicated and skilled healthcare professionals to provide the Redcliffe community with an enhanced and expanded range of healthcare services.”
Works have already commenced at the site. During the construction period, Peninsula Private Hospital will continue to operate as usual with minimal disruption to the hospital's day to day operations. The redevelopment is expected to be completed in early 2025.
Peninsula Private Hospital is a 70-bed facility located in Kippa Ring, offering medical, surgical, and rehabilitation services to the Redcliffe Peninsula community for over four decades.
