Urology is the branch of surgery that focuses on the surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary tract system and the male reproductive organs.  This includes common problems such as prostate disease, kidney stones, recurrent urinary infections and the management of cancers of the kidney, bladder, prostate, testes and the penis.  Urological surgeons are trained in open surgery, but many urological operations are done in a ‘key-hole’ fashion including endoscopy and laparoscopy.
